Barb Scully, CED

Disruptive Community Builder, Owner of Twisted Bulb

Barb is a facilitator, consultant and rural nerd. She studied Community Economic Development at Simon Fraser and has worked in rural communities for over a decade with the agricultural sector, small businesses, non-profits and rural broadband. Her last 4 years has seen her work on a variety of projects that tie technology, innovation and agricultural communities together, including leading the Parkland County, Lac Ste. Anne County, Yellowhead County and Brazeau County Smart Cities Challenge Application to the finalist round. Barb’s work has focused on supporting rural resilience , innovation and community building. When not working she spends her time with family, creating art, growing her urban food forest and exploring her weird love for compost.

Bryanna Kumpula-Yung

Idea girl, sheep farmer, CSA farmer, entrepreneur and owner of Bryanna Kumpula Design Ltd. Bryanna is an agriculture enthusiast and holds a Bachelor of science in Agriculture from the University of Alberta, lover of coffee and box dog owner. Her business talents started at a young age and bloomed a bit more while at the U of A.

After U of A, Bryanna made a few more twists working at Ranchers Beef, Northlands and National Oil Well Varco. These fine places introduced her to new people, big ideas and global concepts that helped shape the person she is today. Having a lifelong addiction to school, Bryanna is currently completing a Master’s in Arts in Community Engagement at the University of Alberta.

Bryanna and her husband Gary own and operate a CSA cut flower farm in North Central Alberta. Bryanna provides strategic direction for the farm along with marketing and communication.


Robin is the Principal of RW Consulting, a Regina-based consulting firm focussed on alternative energy development and agriculture.  He is certified in strategic planning / consultation through Integral Strategy Network (ISN).

Projects of note include delivering business plans and R&D oversight on behalf of the Nipawin biomass group to commercialize a catalyst that converts farm/forest cellulose to ethanol, and Western Manitoba’s soybean processing facility investment attraction initiative. He currently is working with Atmonia ehf to commercialize their patented, sustainable nitrogen fertilizer technology that has zero carbon footprint.

He grew up on the family farm at Tompkins, SK and in Regina and graduated with a B.Sc. (Honours) from the University of Regina and an MA in Geography from the University of Miami.  After returning to Canada he worked for various companies and government departments in Saskatchewan and Newfoundland.  He has served as the CEO of several companies, including the Saskatchewan Forest Centre, before moving into consulting.  He has had some interesting jobs that his grandfather said built character, including:
